Horizontal temperature measurement

When designing a greenhouse market gardening company, much attention is paid to the way in which the temperature in the cultivation space is regulated precisely: the company is divided up into several heating groups, and the precise place, usage and contribution to the temperature of each heating group or cooling unit is considered. The project staff from Looije Agro Technics make use of a variety of specialist software packages for this which reveal the different currents, effects and effectiveness of the applied systems.

It is not unusual that, when putting equipment into service, it turns out that it is not functioning as planned. Whether this concerns a ‚forgotten‘ throttle plate, or a pump unit that has not been set properly: a temperature system that has not been set optimally causes unevenness and unwanted effects in your cultivation.

A so-called horizontal temperature measurement in your greenhouse can reveal whether your equipment is working well. Specially calibrated temperature loggers are hung in a particular pattern in your cultivation space and register the temperature to within an accuracy of 0.1 degrees Celsius every minute. The overall data from a period of, for example, 1 or 2 days is then analysed in software developed specially for this. In a 2D or 3D temperature account of your cultivation space you can quickly see what the temperature distribution is like at specific times. If there are problems, then the comprehensive temperature report forms the basis for approaching and solving the problem. If your equipment is in order, then the report constitutes the tangible ‚proof‘ of this.
